Acupuncture

Acupuncture is well established in veterinary medicine with amazing clinical evidence for its use in animals. It is used for musculoskeletal and neurological disorders, as well as many systemic diseases such as allergies, digestive disorders, anxiety, seizures, and much more. Patients usually start with 1-2 treatments per week for 6-8 weeks. After a thorough re-evaluation to response, treatments are tapered off with the goal of acupuncture sessions monthly for long term maintenance.

Many pets relax and tolerate acupuncture very well and often falling asleep during treatment! The sterile, single-use acupuncture needles are very thin and virtually pain-free when placed in the skin.

How does it actually work? The placement of these needles along points ranging all over the body along nerve pathways induce a response called Neuromodulation. Acupuncture is the stimulation of a specific point on the body, referred to as an acupoint. Stimulation of an acupoint activates nerve fibers, which conduct electrical signals that release endorphins and other neurotransmitters.

Modern research shows that acupoints are located in the areas where there is a high density of free nerve endings, mast cells, small arterioles, lymphatic vessels and the dense connective tissue represents a different spatial configuration as compared to the rest of the normal skin. A great number of studies indicate that stimulation of acupoints induces the release of β – endorphin, serotonin and other neurotransmitters. Therefore, acupuncture for pain relief is well supported by these scientific studies. As more studies are conducted, the mechanism of this ancient therapy will be better understood.

“Research findings from physiologic studies show that acupuncture needles, or other devices, affect afferent nerve fibers in the skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia, muscle, tendons, vascular walls, or periosteum, purportedly eliciting local or peripheral reflexes that have beneficial effects on the body.” - Dr. Narda Robinson, DO, DVM, MS and owner of CuraCore.

Sound Healing

Medicine Soundbath and Tuning Fork Therapy

Did you know that sound waves have been scientifically proven to change our cells?

Everything in our universe is in a constant state of vibration and the frequency and the speed that an object or being naturally vibrates at is called ‘resonance’.

Vibrational medicine is based on the idea that all illness or disease is characterized by a blockage on some level, whether it be arteries, veins, nerves, and so on. Sound and light resonance can break up, dissolve, and release these blockages. A present-day example of this is the high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) procedure, which aims to kill cancer cells with high-frequency sound waves.

One of the first documented singing bowls can be found over 4,000 years ago in China. Nearly every culture has appointed sound to uplift, harmonize, destroy or create something within the community or the individual, at some point.

Dogs can release massive amounts of tension and fall asleep when combining acupuncture with sound therapy. What’s even more remarkable is watching the energy change for the humans in the room, too. Your connection to your dog has a deep connection to their healing and wellbeing.
